How To Use Plunger

1. Using a Plunger

The first and the foremost method you can try is a good quality plunger. You will use a plunger only if you can see the object that has blocked the passage. And that is because plungers are not effective if the clog is well inside the pipe.

When you can see the clog, you know that it’s time to use the plunger. Place the plunger over the hole of the drain pipe and cover it completely. Then pump it several times. After several attempts the clog should be removed.

Make sure the plunger covers the drain pipe completely; otherwise, it won’t be able to create a great pressure or impact to the clog effectively. When you are sure that the clog has removed successfully, you can use the flash again.

Plunger is much more effective then a toilet brush, we talked on it in details.

Baking soda and vinegar:

2. Baking Soda and Vinegar

I know that you have heard about this technique at least once. This is a very popular method. Even if you haven’t heard of it before, don’t worry, you are about to now. Baking soda and vinegar, when combined together is a very good dissolver.

Mix equal amount of vinegar and baking soda in a container. Take a good amount of each ingredient. Pour the mixture in the toilet and then add boiling water to it. Perform this process at night to let it sit overnight. It the morning flush the toilet. Do remember that it works only on soft clogs; it won’t work on hard things like plastics.

Wire hanger

3. Wire Hanger

Cut a wire hanger and straighten it as long as possible. And then make it go through the drain pipe. After that, poke the clog by it. Plock it until you can feel that the clog is gone or at least has softened. After that use the flash and the drain pipe should be unblocked.

Plastic wrap

4. Plastic Wrap

It is time to give your physics lesson a real life try. This is because this method is all about pressure and air force technique. At first, wrap the toilet with a plastic wrapping paper.  Make sure the toilet opening is sealed completely, otherwise, it won’t work.

Now, press the flush. The air inside the toilet will raise the wrapping plastic paper. And at that point you have to firmly press it down. This would create a huge pressure to the clog and the result will be an unblocked drain pipe.

unblock a toilet with Hot water

5. Hot Water

Pour about halve liter of hot water into the blocked pipe. Let it sit there for 10 to 15 minutes. After that use the flush. The clog should be gone. If you want you can use shampoo or hand soap along with the water. It is effective on most clogs.

Conclusion

These were the 5 effective methods that you can try at your home all by yourself to unblock the toilet drain. By these methods, you won’t require the extra burden or hassle of a plumber. Hope it helped you.
